To improve mental health and physical health by being a catalyst to remind people that our recovery and survival is dependent on each other.
To embrace the spirit of family by offering quality foster care, supportive counseling, specialized therapies, and coordinated care.
To act on our belief as a family support agency in God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit by standing with and for those who temporarily are not able to stand on their own while they heal.
The Team
Karen Cowan, MSW, LCSWA
Clinical Director
Karen attended AB Tech and obtained an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement Technology and then went to Mars Hill College to finish up a bachelor’s degree where she double majored in Criminal Justice and Social Work. Afterward, she attended UNC-Chapel Hill to obtain her Master’s degree in Social Work.
Karen has worked in the County Manager’s Office, Baby Love Program doing Maternal and Child Outreach, and also, as a Clinical Case Manager at Blue Ridge Mental Health. She started an agency on January 2, 2000, and later renamed the agency Brandi Nichole Family Enrichment Center in 2009 in honor of her daughter.
Karen is very involved in the community with various organizations and she was previously a foster parent for 14 years.

Jewel Richardson, BA
Agency Director
Jewel Richardson is from the US Virgin Islands. She graduated from Mars Hill College with a Bachelor of Art in Psychology. She is currently the Agency Director at Brandi Nichole Family Enrichment Center. Her passion is reuniting children with their families or finding their forever homes.

Tammy Justice
Office Manager
TTammy was born and raised in Florida. She holds a degree in Medical Coding and Insurance Reimbursement and has an Administrative and Management background. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading and being outdoors.

Lori McAdams, RN
Americare Pharmacy
Educator/Trainer
Lori McAdams is Americare Pharmacy’s Nurse Consultant for Brandi Nichole Family Enrichment Center. Lori provides medication training to our foster parents and has worked with the Brandi Nicole Family Enrichment Center since 2007. She began her nursing career as an LPN working in long-term care and returned to school in 2004 to become a Registered Nurse. Lori lives in Fletcher with her husband and 6 dogs.

Who is Brandi Nichole?
Brandi Nichole, the daughter of our founder Karen Cowan, lost her life-long battle with juvenile diabetes before her 27th birthday. Before she left our world, she touched an entire community of people.
Brandi grew up in a home where parenting foster children was a regular part of life. As she grew up, she naturally became a mentor to many and an outstanding mother to her son, Joseph.
Brandi was a strong, vibrant woman of faith, and an advocate for children and families. She faced many struggles and obstacles like many of us do, yet always persevered.
We use Brandi’s strength to honor our lives and the families we serve.

Radiance Respite Home is a three-bed facility that provides temporary care for children and families in need.
We need you! As a Residential Care Worker, you will provide direct care services at Radiance Respite Home. You will provide each client with a stable, consistent and predictable environment with a balance of nurturance, structure and limits. The primary role will be to assist each client recognize their strength, needs and improve their coping skills.
